CLASSROOM CONTRACT
Here is what you can expect from your professor
1. I will be fully prepared for class and will be ready to start the class on time. This includes having all handouts and blackboard material available before class starts.
2. I will end the class on time or within two minutes of the scheduled ending time.
3. I will stick to the syllabus schedule and topics as closely as possible.
4. I will do my part to make sure class time is valuable to the students who attend.
5. I will abide by the grading scale, course policies, exam dates, etc. listed in the syllabus and will not change these things in the middle of the semester.
6. I will answer e-mail questions from students thoroughly and within twelve hours or less.
7. I will listen to in-class questions from students carefully and will answer them thoroughly. If I do not know the answer, I will find it out and report back.
8. I will grade student quizzes and exams and return these to the students promptly-this means no later than the next class period.
9. I will be available during my scheduled office hours. If I must change office hours on a particular day, I will notify students in advance by e-mail (and in class if possible).
10. I will be civil and professional in my dealings with students.
Here
is what I expect from my students
1. Students will arrive for class on time and be in their seats and ready to begin on time.
2. Students who arrive late will find a seat as close to the door as possible and sit down quickly and quietly.
3. Students who arrive too late to take a quiz will sit down quickly and quietly as close to the door as possible so as not to disrupt students who are working on the quiz. They will wait until class is over to ask for a copy of the quiz, and will not ask to make up the quiz.
4. Students will stay until the end of class, and will not pack up before that time.
5. Students who have to arrive late or leave early for a compelling reason on a particular day will inform me of that fact in advance.
6. Students will not leave during class and come back unless they have a medical emergency such as a nosebleed, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Students who have chronic medical conditions which may require them to leave and come back must inform me of that fact at the beginning of the semester, and must sit near the door.
7. Students will take care of their needs for the restroom, coffee, returning phone calls, etc. before class begins so they can stay and pay attention for the entire class period.
8. Students will turn off all ringers on cell phones, pagers, and other devices during class.
9. Students will pay attention during class: no talking while classmates or I am talking, no sleeping, no reading newspapers, no doing work for other classes. Students who are asked to leave for the day for engaging in these behaviors will do so quickly and quietly.
10. Students will address me respectfully in person and in e-mail.
11. Students will not e-mail me to ask questions which are answered in the syllabus.
12. Students will keep in mind that the course rules and policies, exam dates, and grading scale apply to all students equally, and will not ask for special treatment.
13. Students who miss class will get the lecture notes from another student and will pick up any handouts they missed. They will not ask me to give them notes or repeat an entire lecture just for them.
14. Students who have questions during class will raise their hands and wait to be called on.
15. Students will conduct themselves with personal integrity and honesty. They will carefully read and follow the Honor Code of the School of Business.
