Certificate Programs

The Center for Professional Studies offers various certificate programs. Several are available to the general public while others are developed for specific business, nonprofit, and public sector clients.

Unlike some universities which claim to offer “certificates” that are in reality a collection of already existing college courses, Drake’s certificate programs are specifically designed with input from clients and Drake faculty to utilize proven adult learning methodologies designed to bring tangible results to professionals in the workplace.  In short, Drake’s certificate programs are uniquely designed for each client and/or a unique professional mission.

Drake’s certificate programs are designed around a group learning format.  A selected group of learners pursues each certificate class together based on an established schedule which links each topic to the previously offered course. The master schedule is designed to meet the needs of the client. We find the most effective schedule is one where learners meet as a unified group two days each month from 8:30AM-4:30PM for three to eighteen months depending on the scope of the program  This format allows for a coordinated learning process that ensures that all participants receive comprehensive exposure to the material.  It also develops a team atmosphere that enhances the learning process and creates a social environment that is appreciated by adult learners and their sponsoring organizations.
