News - week 1 - May 20
Welcome to the World Wide Web version of Mgmt 120 - Management of Operations at Drake University. This is the course home page which will be your most convenient starting point when you access the class. You may want to bookmark this page (You will need to enter the password each time you access the page, or you might be able to tell your browser to remember the password, if you are always using the same computer to access the course site.)
Before going to the assignments for week 1, there are few preliminaries to take care of.
When you have finished these three tasks you are ready to begin the week 1 page above. A few more useful pieces of information are described below.
Generally the weeks for the class will run from Monday to Sunday. Each week there is an assignment due Sunday at midnight, with a grace period until Monday at noon. Assignments can certainly be turned in early, but I will not grade and return them until after the due date. You will notice a link above to the class discussion forum. The forum will be used for some required discussion questions, but it is also good way to submit questions to me. I will check the forum regularly and address questions that are posted. This way, when someone else has the same question, they will find it already on the discussion board. Inside the forum you will find a link to instructions on how to use it. It is also perfectly fine to send questions to me via email. (bradley.meyer@drake.edu)
Let me explain a little about my schedule, so you know what to expect as far as answers to your questions and emails. For the first three weeks I am teaching the Interim section of this course. That will take up my weekday mornings. I will be back to my office between noon and 1 and be available to respond to questions. I will usually be around until 4 or 5 in the afternoon. When I go home, I check my email a few times in the evening, especially toward the later part of the evening, between 9 and 11. I will also check my email frequently during the weekend since I realize that quite a few students will be working on class material over the weekend.
I am doing some experimentation with multimedia this summer. There always seems to be numerous technical issues to work out. I will greatly appreciate your feedback concerning what is or isn't working. Also, I will always make a low-tech option available as a backup.
